Letter | Wonders about property rights on rail corridor

If my memory is correct, when the county purchased the railroad corridor, the title examination disclosed conditions on some of the property showing that years ago, some land owners were forced to sell parts of their property to the railroad company, with the condition that if the railroad was ever discontinued, that the property owner or their successor would get the land back.

If this is true, and the owner ever got the property back, I would think the county would have to negotiate with them to put a trail on their property.
